Leshyi (the owner of the forest, the forest spirit, leshak, Kobold, grandfather-forest) - in the mythology of the Eastern Slavs, the master of the forest, the patron of wild animals and birds (see the Spirits of loci).

This is the main owner of the forest, he makes sure that no one in his household were not harmed. Good people is good, helps to get out of the forest, not too good - bad: confused, forced to go in circles. He sings in a voice without words, beats clapping, whistling, aucet, laughing, crying.

The Leshyi can appear in various plant, animal, human, and mixed images can be invisible. Often appears lonely. In winter, leaves the forest, plunging into the earth. As the owner cares about the forest, protects it, is the patron Saint of wild animals.

When people long to wander through the woods, to the same place circles all the time is returned, then we say that the Leshyi leader plays.

There were witnesses who claimed to have seen the  Leshyi, but of course we don't know true whether it or they thought so.
