Thanks. Unfortunately they didn't stick around in this pose long enough for me to dial down to f11 and try to get them both sharp

the D3s...low light capabilities...
initially I wanted the 200-400mm but after careful consideration of my primary shooting needs I decided on the 500mm f4 (plus some other shorter lenses).

It's a complement if you can afford both
If I use the 70-200mm on a DX body like the D7000 I'm on 300mm effectively, so I find I'm not really missing the 400mm focal length too much.
