Description This was the secong painting I did inspired by a song. For this project I got to choose the song myself so I chose 'Raining in Baltimore' by Counting Crows, which I believe is one of the most saddest, beautiful songs ever. This painting is more about the feelings the song invokes for me rather than literal translations of the lyrics.
The song saw me through some hard times, and also when I did this I was living in New York and lonely. If you go through my gallery and find 'Oedipus Jesus' with the clown (which is an homage to Kurt Halsey), that drawing was the original idea for this picture. I loved the idea of photographs flying out of an album.
So, for this I chose to make it a little more real and atmospheric. I was especially pleased with the rain and cracks on the skin. I chose to make the being out of stone to illustrate the obvious pain showing through his hard exterior as cracks, but also becasue it made it more fun to draw.
Still one of my favorite paintings I have done.
