I cannot be the only one who has noticed this. I'm not mad or anything, and this actually makes me laugh, but in Fanfictions he seems like a cold-hearted bastard who gives no shit for anything but himself. In the movie he seemed desperate for love and attention. Like he actually wanted people to get a wake up call and see him there. Kind of like a mistreated pet who is looking for a home.
EDIT: So YEAH.

there, there... and actually he wanted to kill Jamie... not Jack... but that aside. I understand. Ultimately, Pitch is not a villain because he chooses to be... it is simply that he goes about getting what he wants in the wrong way because no one has bothered to show him differently since his fall... no one has tried to help.

That was my thoughts of him exactly. He's so sad and lonely. I mean, he did tell Jack "We don't have to be alone anymore."

I only found out his back story yesterday. I have to say, that is extremely sad. I do feel better about his character now.

It's just that it's hard not to feel sad for him. He has nothing and can not gain anything no mater what he does, while even his memories forever taken away.
The same the creators of Adventure Time dropped with Ice King, from silly mad wizard that loves to kidnap princesses and is constantly ass kicked by a 12 year old and his magical dog, to a thousand years old kind man that was slowly driven mad by the very artifact that keeps him alive in post-apocalyptic world as every thing that was ever dear to him taken away one by one till only maddened husk is left.

I know. When you're the writer, anything can go. To tell the truth I'm writing a story with pitch in it. I'm trying not to, but im sure he'll turn out mean and evil.

I completely agree with you there. In many fan fictions Pitch is usually depicted as a source for evil. I think it's cause in the movie while you still feel sorry for him, he does do things that seem somewhat graphic for children. (like when he kills the eggs and captures baby tooth).
It's understandable, but I actually felt bad enough for him that in a fan fic of mine I try to write a more complicated story of his character with a happy ending..... the ending for him in the movie was just so sad and cut off.... ;-;

If a sequel ever happens, we might get to see more of his backstory (so far, I've read the first Guardians of Childhood book)

They made him so heartbreaking in the book series (I won't reveal anything out of respect). I had heard that they were considering doing a sequel for ROTG that would focus on how the Guardians were chosen before Jack came into the picture, (Pitch included) but due to the movie not doing well financially that's up in the air.

It's like people thinking that Jamie and Jack will have a romantic relationship because Jamie was the first kid to believe in Jack
