Description Et voila Alphus, version The Desolate Room.

Alphus (The Desolate Room).

Big update 11/08/2017 (Because I uploaded Tool and Derelict)
I updated the textures of the model for the gif with Viral Code, so here's a better render of the full body. I used another texture and I tried to correct
his UV, but the model is too old, I can't do better.

Did you give him the stretchy arms and waist? If so is it riggable? I always wanted to find a way to make the stretchy arms...

My model is rigged, he have exactly 6 bones in the arm to make it quite flexible I just have to change the scale to make them stretchy.
That's how I've made him, It's the best way I found for the rigging.
I hope this will help you anyway, I'm just a beginner, I'm still learning.

(Sorry if my english is bad)

Ah HA! I though so I managed to get a similar effect using 4 bones. Thanks for the info and if you want, I can give you a little tip with the textures. Or how to create those signature specularity effects used in TDH TDR and some other games.
p.s. Could you give me a tip on how you made the arms stretchy I'm struggling to get a similiar effect...Β

No problem, it's a pleasure to help !

I'm interested, I always want to create the textures myself, and I have just one texture found on internet for all my metal effects...
(And on this model this isn't great... but I planned to update him soon)

Sure, I can try to show you how the arm work.

Well I'm not too sure on Maya, since I use blender 2.75, however underneath the interface most if not all 3D modelling software is the same. If it is available, there should be an option maybe within the textures panel that will allow you to assign a procedural texture as a pattern for the specular reflection (sorry If I am not clear... I'm not too good with wording sentences...) Certain effects like a cloud based procedural textures with a hard Perlin noise, or a Stucci based procedural texture with Hard Perlin noise (each option may need a negative value depending on the software.), will give you the iconic Alphus glaze! If you need me to explain it again just ask, I'm not too much help to anyone though...
If possible send me an image of the Maya interface, hopefully it isn't too different!

MouneM In reply to gamergirl1656 [2017-11-09 06:50:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's one of the things that makes me believe the two games aren't related. Alphus seems to forgot everything : his old pals,Β  the name "Derelict" (who became a word), the virus, the land where he was...
The only thing Alphus kept in memory is his friend Coffee, but the new Coffee, not the old one.

So, this is really the same Alphus? We probably never know...

gamergirl1656 In reply to MouneM [2017-11-09 10:50:18 +0000 UTC]

Even Coffee lost his memories he’s not collecting eggs for some reason and he barely knows his old friend Alphus also he doesn’t remember his old pals too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MouneM In reply to gamergirl1656 [2017-11-09 10:57:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah Coffee as changed too, especially his personnality, he is not nice with DC-09, and he says his Derelicts friends lost their mind. Unlike the old Coffee, at the beginning
it's hard to appreciate him (in my opinion), it's only at the end when we realise he's a nice robot.
And yes the eggs obsession disappear, it's only a simple reference to TDR when we collect them as bonuses for the battle, and he don't remember his old friends.

So the question is the same with Coffee...

gamergirl1656 In reply to MouneM [2017-11-10 11:11:11 +0000 UTC]

Coffee is strick in the desolate hope but I’m guessing he’s the same coffee think about it (he somehow lost his memories) he goes into his adventure with his friends and basically helps them take care of the virus.

Good point, the story of TDH is, at some points, the same as TDR.

So maybe he stay the same coffee, but as I said, we probably never know...

Yes, but with the movie and his new game project (I hope it's the "pizzeria tycoon"), fnaf will keep him busy for a moment.
But I can wait, and I hope one day I will see a TDH sequel.

I had to read this 3 time for completely understand ^^'

I used Blender before I moved to Maya. I agree that two softwares are really different. For example the textures don't apply well on an extruded polygon (here, the body of alphus). And I don't know how to fix that.Β
I think I understood for the textures, but I need to practice first. I never used those tools in 3D, I just need time to learn it.
I'm still a beginner in 3D, but I'm learning something new every time I finish a model.

(Sorry if it's bad, I'm french and I needed Google Trad this time)
If I find how to send you a picture, I send the interface and how I rigged the arm (If you still need help on this).

Here is an image of the blender interface for the textures panel, I used these texture for a recreation of Tool (it wasn't perfect... Β Anyway I also provided an image of tool. The settings are located within the textures panel at the bottom inside the Influence tab. Sorry if it is squashed up slightly...

p.s. Don't worry about your french, i'm from England and I now live in south america... Language is hard sometimes...
p.s.s Deviant art wont allow me to import media > I must find a way to send you these images! Β D:<
p.s.s.s Could you send me an image of the arm rig please?

MouneM In reply to Security-Drone [2016-09-05 05:47:15 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the pictures (I love your Tool model)
I remember the cloud texture, I used it when I was on Blender.
If I don't find a similar way with Maya, I will port my model to Blender and apply the same texture.

Here is the skeleton of Alphu's arm :

sta.sh/0muood2gaf0

The first picture is the start position, the 2rd and 3rd how the stretchy effect look, and the 4rd without changing the scale.
Here is 6 bones to animate it, but only 4 of them give the stretchy effect, the first one is used to move the shoulder only, and the last one the hand, I don't change the scale of these two.
I know the bones looks missplaced. It's my mistake... but I will fix it if I port him to Blender.
(The color of the bones is just for "separate" the bones by category for the rigging, it's an automatic system. It's just a help for the user.)

The rigging itself is made by the software, he can calculate a smooth rigging automatically, it was almost perfect, I just had to fix the shoulder and the hand myself.
here is a picture of the rigging of the 6 bones :

sta.sh/0v5y035y9di

In maya the rigging is made by painting the model with black and white.

Hope this could help you, and thanks for the help with blender
(I hope I explained it clearly...)

Sorry, I had to hide my other comments, Do you know how to add tags when you are about to submit art?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MouneM In reply to Security-Drone [2016-11-27 17:25:05 +0000 UTC]

(It's okay ^^)

When you upload your file before submit, the tags section appears right below the title and description window.

If your talking about the watermark, it's depends on the size of the picture.

MouneM In reply to Security-Drone [2016-11-27 17:36:24 +0000 UTC]

When the file is uploaded, a line appear below the title window for tags, but only if you upload a file first.

This is a really accurate model! I love this!

This is going to sound really lame, but I've always had this headcannon that the Desolate Hope and the Desolate Room are related in plot. I've also got this other headcannon that Alphus was actually alive in the Desolate Room. Maybe like something happened where after all the other derelicts died, Alphus actually survived due to his programming being the strongest or willpower. But overall I love this!

Thank you !

Interesting point of view for Alphus. For me the game aren't related...
But he is the best friend of Coffee in the two games, so why not ?

I'm really glad to see someone love my work and speak about the game.Β
Thank you again, I really like your comments, its give me the motivation to make more about TDH and TDR.
