.. the first one to get the species correct gets a one month sub!...this bird was recently listed red under an international threatened species list...
...ok... now for the story...
this little guy popped out from a dense jungle conopy much to my surprise.. this seldomn photographed bird put on quite a little show. while this particular bird is partly named for the sound of its call, this individual appeared to be possibly mute. I followed the small noisy flock that he was in for nearly an hour (before i was side-tracked by elephants), and in that time this guy did not make a single peep... (though he did strut his stuff for the females
)considering that this birds common name is partly in reference to it's rather noisy nature... i thought that "mute" seemed a fitting title.. though "the mute stallion" might have been more descriptive........

I did often try to catch birds with my cam, but mostly they are to far away for a good pic or simply to fast! Very well done!

I'll bet...especially since birds tend to be rather difficult to photograph anyway...can't really get close enough to them to get a good shot w/o a major zoom lens on the camera...

I love the crested birds, so majestic looking. I have a family of cardinals and two jays living in my yard. It was fun watching the young cardinals grow to maturity so I could tell if they were male or female. They were male
