Description
When: May 20, 2020
Where: Dierenpark Zie-ZOO Volkel, The Netherlands
I believe I mentioned this was a good year for Corsac Fox kits. One zoo had 1 kit, this zoo was said to have 3-5. It was hard to see them all at once - they are bundles of activity when awake!
Luckily, this one wasn't *that* awake, so sat still long enough to take a photo of.
They were still super young at this point; maybe 5 weeks? Very special to see them at this age, so fluffy and tiny!
Species: Corsac Fox (Steppevos)
Latin name: Vulpes Corsac
Originates from Central Asia.
Current status: Least Concern.
Did you know:
…The fur of the Corsac Fox changes during Winter, not unlike that of the Arctic Fox.
…It’s coat becomes much thicker, and more silky in texture, and becomes-grey in color, with a darker line running down the back; this compared to the yellowish fur during Summer, with pale underparts, and markings on mouth, chin and throat.
