"i am flying toward you at lightning speedplease open your arm to receive my embrace."
speedpaint 100 minutes with photoshop 7.0. photo reference was used, of course.
since it sounded like a crime not to show the reference photo, i posted it in my scrap:
and, more new stuff~ i thought maybe some of you who view might be interested to see the work in progress:
by #dALinkSystem i recommend Cat Running by *nekomeandon
although the animation is simple with few frames, it is smooth and the cat has a very eager expression.
and also another mininalistic traditional cat painting worthy of your love!

i was trying to decide which would of your works would look the best hanging up here
i thought [link] would look pretty stylish
but after taking an informal poll i m going to have to go with this one
it wasn t until your contest that i started to consider how there s a difference between great art and what would be good to hang up on people s walls
[link] for example is another example of an awesomely done piece
but depending on what people want their home to look like
some great works of art don t fit even if they re awesome
while this piece may not be the best example of your originality
it s quite an achievement of technical skill
and the subject matter is just the kind of thing that could be used to brighten up a place of residence
assuming producing things for people s homes is your purpose
bright lighting
vibrant colors
cute animals
how could anyone not smile the first time they see this in someone s home
if i were going to try to make this perfect
i would try to increase the contrast a bit
make it look like the sun is blinding and really make where the sunlight hits awash in highlights
also i might add some high res details on a few plants in the foreground and on a few choice features on the kitten
not so much that everything becomes highly detailed but just enough to emphasize certain parts of the image
to draw a person s eye to this spot on the grass or that spot on the kitten
as a matter of emphasis just to check things out =]

i like how you point out one of important aspect of making art: it should be sellable. artists are normal people too and we all need to earn a living. putting into consideration if the painting suits the wall is an important point. i'll keep that in mind.
