Description ~siragiku sensei said "手書きすることはとても大切":
"it is important to put your haiku down in handwriting."

i agree.

i'm posting a photo of my haiku memo in the management diary i hold with me wherever i go. those days during the haikuwrimo i was thinking of new verses all the time. such mental exercises can calm you down significantly. when the day didn't go right, your muse in haiku helps alleviate the woes quite a bit.

may i request that all our haijin here too post a photo of their own haiku in their own handwriting?

then come and join in my contest, look into this journal entry for the details:
[link]

we are waiting

as requested by =Iscariot-Priest
the haiku written in those two pages:

RIGHT BOTTOM COLUMN:
ふわふわと水梅の香や朝の凪
fuwa fuwa to suibai no ka ya asa no nagi
the weightless scent of wrightia drifts
in the morning calm.

冬という季節は朝の二十二度
fuyu toiu kisetu wa asa no nijuuni do
we call this season 'winter':
22°C in the morning.

虎猫のけんかの相手ぬいぐるみ
toraneko no kenka no aite nuigurumi
the tiger cat wrestles
with a stuff toy.

鼻水も涙も出せるラクサかな
hanamizu mo namida mo daseru rakusa kana
with snivels and tears,
oh laksa!

劇場や化粧崩れたお嬢さん
gekijou ya keshou kuzureta ojousan
drama theatre-
the lady's make-up is in a mess.

帰り時に重いまぶたやおぼろ月
kaeriji ni omoi mabuta ya oborotuki
going home with heavy eyelids-
a fuzzy moon.

黒猫の銀の輪郭光けり
kuroneko no gin no rinkaku hikarikeri
the black cat's silver silhouette
glows.
(interestingly, the portion i smeared with correction fluid actually glows a little. the text is exactly 'hikarikeri', that is, 'glows'. that wasn't intentional.)

LEFT UPPER CORNER:
梅つ月ながめの空や空の日記
umetutuki nagame no sora ya kara no niki
the sky persistently rains
in the second lunar month-
a blank diary.

Très beau - beautiful.

"fuwa fuwa to suibai no ka ya asa no nagi

the weightless scent of wrightia drifts
in the morning calm."

=

"le parfum léger des wrightias dérive
dans le matin calme."

(a little bit literal but not so bad

So beautiful! Mine are all scruffy scraps. Though I do copy the 'better' ones in to a nice journal I bought with Mount Fuji on the cover.

i agree that my little diary is pretty. it's a gift from my friend.

but i used to do my haiku on scraps too: on used paper with single blank side, behind old calendar, etc.

I was at the bookstore today and bought myself a tiny notebook and a medium sized notebook which I can carry around with me for when the muse strikes. Both of recycled paper!

i'm glad you're so inspired.
we'll have more haiku from you then.

*the following also posted in several other places where you mention the contest*

I have journals & notepads & scraps of all kinds with some of my orignally written haiku in them. I don't know if I'm able to take any photos from a cheap instamatic that will allow you to see & read the writing. I'll see what I can do. I like this idea of the contest very much though I have no way to submit anything worthy in pictoral quality. It just sounds like fun to try. I also might do my submissions in black & white.

Your notebook looks beautiful, especially when compared to my scrappy old book with my scrawl in it. I shall post a picture later.

this is actually not a notebook. it's my management diary with all my daily to-do list. i won't know where to go, what to do without this nifty thing.

waiting for your entry. please help me pimp the contest?

I also carried a notebook with me during haikuwrimo and wrote down things that popped into my head
Wish I had such nice pictures like these to go with them.

Beautiful pictures, could you put the accompanying haiku in the image in the artist comments? Can't quite make them out.

Post pics of our haiku notepads? Ha ha, I'm no where so organized or as neat at writing. It's usually a bunch of chicken scratches on whatever loose paper I can find.

moyanII In reply to Iscariot-Priest [2009-05-25 05:46:38 +0000 UTC]

the accompanying haiku are put up at your request.

no worry about neatness. we can see the real you from your handwritten haiku, even the papers you used were part of your personality. don't be shy.

do help me spread the word for my visual poetry contest.

Thanks for putting them up, I like the local flavor in them - warm "winter" mornings and laksa!

Will upload a picture of my notepad & do my bit to pimp this contest.

That is how I started, by writing haiku in my own writing and then taking a photo of the location that inspired me with my post-it-note, not quite the same, but I do not have your talented hands and eyes for drawing and painting... Remember these gems??? You were my very first watcher! [link]

OK, so I read back through them, and boy = do they ever need work to become proper haiku! But - I was and am aspiring.
