Description In an effort to finally come up with a routine to get me to sketch more as well as help me to draw faster, I have decided to subject myself to 30 minute sketches. I watch WWE Monday Night Raw and figured that I could utilize my time in those two minutes better if I actually worked on art as I watched rather than surf the net.

Raw is two hours long, so basically in the course of the 2 hours, I would work on 4 different poses to sketch out for the duration of the show...I chose 4 of my characters, wrote their names down, and gave them to my (former) girlfriend, Sherina. I also took several of my art technique books with actual human photo references ("People and Places" and "Women and Girls" both by Buddy Scalera and "The Nude Female Figure" by Mark Edward Smith) and gave those to Sherina and had her randomly select a pose for me, then randomly select one of the pieces of paper with the name of the characters and that's how I determined what I would draw. Once all of that was selected, I would start sketching with only 30 minutes to work with what I had. Eventually, Sherina decided that she wanted to jump in on the fun as well!

Here's the first sketch from my first ever 30 min sketches...I drew my resident evil supergenius manipulator of magnetism and technological wiz "The Matriarch" Scarlette's name and Sherina picked this pose for me to attempt. She, like myself and many of you out there in DA watcher-land, thinks that I need to attempt more dynamic poses that show movement in my artwork so she chose poses that conveyed dynamic movement. I think that this one came out fairly well...I later went back and finished the shading but here it is! I don't know if Scarlette would ever actually do this (she can fly) but it was fun to do! Perhaps we'll one day soon see Scarlette in action rather than have one of her evil cyborg minions do her bidding!

Nice start. Overall anatomy looks pretty solid. Great idea for an exercise. It'll be interesting to see your progress. I may have to make myself do some similar sketches.
