Crochet Lickitung that I made for a woman on my course, it was a present for her daughter and they both loved it!

Was wondering how you did the mouth? I'm working on a small lizard and it needs a reaaly big open mouth and everything so far just look like a pac-man.
Did you chain and turn? Break-off yarn and start a new row?

Hi, with this one I chained and turned like you said, I would continue decreasing with each row where necessary as though it were a complete round. Once the mouth was as big as I wanted it to be I just made a a couple of chains to bridge the gap and continued to single crochet.
The inside of the mouth is just a separate part, I just made a sphere shape and attached it around the edge of the inside of the mouth.
