I'm a canon whore. xD It's why I dislike the pairing.

Well okay then.
What happens to pull them apart? I know he gets with Kori, and Rae gets with Gar.

Um...Well, that's really complicated, actually. Funny thing about Dick that a lot of Titans fans don't remember much, he has a life outside of the Titans too. Anyway, Dick stays with Kory for some time, but right now in the comics, he's actually told her that he doesn't love her. And then they went in completely separate directions afterward; Dick became Batman, and Kory is off in R.E.B.E.L.S., away from the Titans in general.
As for Gar getting with Rae, that kind of remains to be seen, I think. Gar obviously has feelings for her, and Raven sort of appreciates it I believe (because she's experiencing emotions that she was unable to feel before) -- but they haven't told each other definitely with blunt, honest words, 'Let's be boyfriend and girlfriend.' Also, if you've read comic romances long enough, you'd know that they never last for too long, sadly enough. Even if they're together for years, something will break them up, be it moodiness, angst, or death. Thank you, DC Comics.

DC does have a habit of doing that...
It's a shame, since I hear Dick and Kori nearly marry three or so times. No doubt it's Dick being, well, a Dick. (I'm not fond of his all-work-no-play general attitude, myself.)
As for Rae and Gar, from what's they're leading off on, they do feel for eachother, but stay out of a relationship for safe measures. S'far as I know, anyway. I've only read so far into it.
I guess DC likes to fuck with fans xD It's always a new writer or producer that changes things around. One second, one style, and it's bbxrae, next it's Rae and some other guy having a not-so-thing. xD

Three times? Um...I'm pretty sure they only tried to marry once, and that too was very complicated. Most people have heard of the notorious wedding crash where evil!Raven stopped the ceremony. That issue was actually blatantly anti-Dick/Kory and pro-Rae/Kory. Seeing as how Raven manipulated Kory's emotions into saying, 'I love you,' and then they kissed passionately. Yes, on the lips. Afterward, Kory confronted Dick and said she thought he was rushing into things by trying to marry her, and he admitted that he'd only tried to marry her because he was desperate to hang onto anyone he could (all of his friends were leaving, and he had literally had no one else at the time). That he was simply trying to grasp at straws concerning the last of his relationships with others. This is what I've read, at least.
Well, the last time Garfield asked Raven if she might return any feelings toward him, she broke down and cried and said she couldn't. And, knowing the way the writers portray her, she'll probably lead him along for a while until he pops the question again, and then say 'no.'
DC does that waaaayyyyy too often. Now I'm just praying that Dick doesn't turn around and crawl back to Kory again. He finally put his foot down in realising that she's too over-emotional and overly-clingy and needy to be compatible with him. If some bumpkin writer takes all of that progress back just to get their Dick/Kory fix, I'm switching to Marvel, dammit. XP

Hahah! Admittedly, I don't like Dick. But I -am- a fan of the dick/kory thing. Not much of one.
Anyways, with DC, EVERYTHING'S canon. ._.
Marvel... Ah, the not-chunky heros...
Admittedly the only DC comics I like are the Titans.
Otherwise I'm a marvel fan. Lucy in the Sky caught my eye, then after that I was hooked long before I even bothered with the SHOW Teen Titans, non-less the comics.

I'm not a fan of Dick/Kory. At all. But that's cool if you like them -- it's all a matter of preference and personal perception of the characters. Dick can be a dick sometimes; I sort of have a love-hate thing with him. Sometimes he's cool, but other times I just want someone to kick him in the balls like he deserves. XP
The Teen Titans cartoon...Eh. It has some good episodes that I like, but on the whole, I think it's rather overrated. It's fun, but it's definitely not a work of genius. Or maybe I'm just sore because the team is the Wolfman-Perez lineup of Titans, while the original five got shoo-ed off to second rate teams and honouraries, in favour of annoying characters like Beast Boy and Starfire. Yes, I think they're annoying. But for the record, if you're a fan of them, I don't mind. I don't ask you or anyone else to share that opinion with me. That's only my opinion. I felt the need to throw that out there because I get a lot of shit (and see a lot of it) from anal fans who get butthurt if you say one bad word about the Titans. Mostly about Starfire, for whatever crack reason.

Oh yeah they're bullshit annoying. But for some reason, the stupidity of it all is what makes me love it more. It's like spongebob fans; they love the show for reasons I can only decide are for the pure idiocy of it all. xDD
Personally, the cartoon is my preference because I got to see that long before the comics.
Also because I can more easily relate to the not-always-emo crew of titans they have, even the 'side' teams. (Hey, at least they were mentioned. Most comics-made-shows drop nearly half the characters) DC is lacking I find, in storyline and character... originality when it comes to their comics. It's the progression and easy-going attitude of the show that got me.
Note: I'm totally okay with you not liking what I like, and vise versa. xD I love debates/conversations that are like this, so long as the other person isn't a dick about it. (Pardon the pun xDD)
I'm a bit downcast that they left out quite a few characters, but then, it would've been confusing for the audiences they were trying for; kids. They took the five characters (six if you count Terra) that were voted 'best suited' and stuck 'em together in their own cast-off version.
The comics were more edged for adults and older teens. Another reason why I might actually prefere the show at times; I'm still a dumb brat in my head. xDD

The stupidity of it kind of addicts me to the fandom, too. Maybe because there are lulz to be had with bitchy Rob/Star (not that all of them are of course, but there seems to be a lot of them) fans who have never touched a comic book in their lives and therefore know squat about the real Teen Titans, or the multiple canon relationships that Dick has had with about a country-full of other women. I know it's a little bit of a mean streak in me, but as far as I'm aware, we all have a mean streak. XD And if I really feel the need to argue with others, I'd rather it be about comics and pairings than, say, religion and politics. Things can get a little nasty when arguing about fandoms, sure; but it gets downright murderous when you debate about religion/politics/morals/social standards. Because then you're attempting to undermine a person's character, upbringing, intelligence, and faith. Does that make sense...? XD;
I can see why you prefer the cartoon. See, I read a lot of old school Teen Titans comics with the original five. And they're actually rather like the cartoon, far more so than the Wolfman-Perez team ever was. Which is why I would much rather the original five had been the main team, because they were like that from the beginning. They wouldn't have needed to be dumbed down for the cartoon, you know? It's also why I consider the animated series to suffer from Saturday Morning Watchmen Syndrome (a show derived from a story that was originally geared toward a mature audience that involves graphic violence, language, sex, and subjects that only adults would understand; and is then mutilated and dumbed down so that it can be thrown in front of little kids). Starfire in particular irks me, no matter her version: comics or cartoons. I understand that some people have the ability to separate the comics and animated series and view the characters as two different entities, but...I just don't have that ability. Somehow, I just can't watch cartoon!Star, no matter how much she's like Miss Martian, without remembering that she started out as nothing more than a sex symbol. And I don't find it appealing to take a character made for nothing but sex, and then rip her to shreds to try and be cute and quirky. Again, some people can separate the two, but I can't. Starfire is still Starfire to me.
Admittedly, DC Comics is going downhill a lot lately in many of its titles. Rise Of Arsenal is definitely guilty of that travesty. Some titles are good these days, though! Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin is really worth keeping up with; Birds of Prey by Gail Simone has been re-launched (FTW!); and Batgirl is pretty good, too. But yes, Titans and Teen Titans are pretty much full of angst and emo-ness...If you're reading only those, I'm afraid you really are catching the bad side of DC. XP
I think the main reasons they didn't use the original five are 1) Wonder Girl (both Donna and Cassie) isn't allowed to be animated, though I don't know why. 2) The original five, however awesome, would have been an all-white team and therefore possibly (probably) offensive to viewers as 'racist.' 3) There was only one girl in the original five (Donna obviously), so it could also possibly be seen as 'sexist.'
Have you heard about the upcoming Young Justice cartoon, though?!

"And if I really feel the need to argue with others, I'd rather it be about comics and pairings than, say, religion and politics."
It might as well be the same thing with some fans out there. ._.
Ahem.
Yeah, the sexual-turned-kiddy Star does bug me. Knowing the comic was her first version, then seeing her in the show... I just can't help but stare. I think I might try some of those comics though; Birds of Prey sounds pretty cool, but I've never really been a fan of batman himself. No matter the version.
And yeah I see the problems with the original five there. Most likely, there was copyrights up the ying-yang and that kept them from being published as a children's cartoon series.

Among other various appearances he makes. The new tv shows (cartoons mostly) give him a really bad image of some bad-pun-spitted superhero with stupid bulky sidekicks. >.< I don't mind him in shows like Justice League or whatever, but alot of his newer shows pretty much suck.
