I'm lateeeeee DXI was drawing this as soon as I saw the new episode, but I didn't get it completed until late last night. My weekends are just too hectic! I wish I had more free-time on the weekends, so I could draw tons of pony art to celebrate the new episodes! Oh well~
I saw a lot of speculation about Big Mac's reasons for taking Smarty-Pants, so here's an explanation for it. :3

i would think that since Big Mac runs Sweet Apple Acres, he would have to be rather good with math and reading. you know, finances and such?

Unless there's an episode I don't know about which explains all of that, I'm pretty sure that was never an established fact about Big Mac. I think we're meant to assume that Granny Smith runs that particular farm, but that's never been confirmed either.

Ive always thought Big Mac would be head of the household, and thus the farm. Seems like most obviouse pony for it to me

Granny Smith is one of the founders of Ponyville, and one of the original farmers of Sweet Apple Acres. (S2E11 "Family Appreciation Day") I think it's only obvious that she runs things. And seeing as how Applejack is the Element of Honesty and all, it's likely she's next in line to run things.
