I really like it. This was always the sort of scenario I imagined Kishimoto would choose to show Sakura's strength and growth - her defending her teammates (though I thought it might be her defending Naruto *and* Sasuke, having they'd exhausted themselves beating each other up, and couldn't help themselves, lol.) You've drawn it great, though. Even the background... It's bare, and usually I might criticize how featureless it is, but it serves to draw the focus to Naruto and Sakura in the foreground. Lovely.

A very likely 'what if' scenario. I wouldn't be surprised if Sakura would actually do this. I think recent manga events has showed that she realizes how much Naruto cares for her, even if he would die trying. This time, Sakura would feel the need to protect him from any sort of pain, not necessarily so that she could return him a favor, but because she doesn't want to lose something that has been her shield and shelter when Sasuke left her. She would realize he means something to her so important, she couldn't stand to watch him suffer.

The drawing's so solid, it even looks like it's part of the manga! And I agree, this would truly be a breaking point of Sakura's growth, not just because she would be willing to fight for him, but also it represents a part of her that is willing to let Sasuke go (and hence, NaruSaku pairing). Wouldn't be really surprised if this would happen. Anyway, awesome job!

Sorry I don't see this happening, Sakura, last time almost got killed and Sasuke almost made her cream white magic in her panties due to his power. If anything, Naruto is the only one who can face Sasuke, not Sakura, she'll probably be there to tie up Sasuke's little ego and bring him to the light more, but in a fight Sasukew would kill her 0.3 seconds. Nice effort though.

Well, I'm not trying to say she would win, but I truly don't believe she'd be standing in the sidelines dutifully waiting to 'bring Sasuke to the light' after the battle's over. -_-
I think she would at least try to help her teammate and friend Naruto, as it has been shown in the manga, instead of just leaving it all in his hands again. Numerous times she's proposed they'll bring Sasuke back together, not Naruto alone.
But perhaps I just respect her character enough to think she'd do more than just "cream white magic" over Sasuke's power. That's all. We won't until the next confrontation of course.

Well there is some truth to your picture, Sakura wouldn't let Naruto die to Sasuke, but hopefully it won't come to that because Sasuke has no interests in Naruto he'll want to keep Naruto and Sakura from a distance away from him.
However I don't think Sakura would interfere if Naruto and Sasuke fought because she knows her place between the two, if Naruto told her not to get in the way when it comes down to a fight and Sakura probably respects that because she knows Naruto and Sasuke has a strong rivalry. Sakura tried to step in and it got her pwned or her teammates pwned in the process. It's best she'd stay back.
Yamato said she has her own way of supporting Naruto and being useful, her just steping in a fight between Naruto and Sasuke just screams death wish, and as a SasuSaku fan, even I know Sasuke wouldn't give Sakura a chance to talk since he'll pwn her faster than Itachi's handseals.
Hopefully Sakura's heart will reach Sasuke's before it's to late.

I understand your point now, and I definitely agree those two have their own rivalry/brotherhood/whatever going on. Something Sakura couldn't successfully break into. Not to mention Sasuke does respond to Naruto's attempts of redemption over Sakura's. Hurting his old teammates I doubt Sasuke wants to do, but if they tried to interfere with his goals...it gets a little fuzzy there.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, only if things started to look grim she would try to help. It probably wouldn't make much of a difference, since Sasuke doesn't seem to take her seriously, but she wouldn't have been a simple observer.
I doubt Kishimoto would ever have Sakura seriously fight Sasuke, but it'd be a great way to show her growth. That even with the relationship Sasuke and Naruto have, she's there as a backbone too.
Of course, it's wishful thinking on my part, but I'd love to see Sakura as more than just the soft female of team 7.
