it looks like such a beautiful place.. i realy like the contrast between the blue sky and the clouds... it reminds me a place i visited a long time ago in Canada...Here in Portugal we don't have lakes like these...
Beautiful...

Thank you so much...It is a gorgeous place here. All of Alaska has great beauty, and it's such a large place that there is great variety. I live in the southeast part of the state, where we have many islands and shorelines, mountains and glaciers, and a wealth of wildlife. I hope my work this year will have me traveling throughout the state, so that I can take my camera and capture more of it. Thank you for the lovely comment!

A few months ago maybe a year or more i watched a movie called "Into the wild" ( with a great soundtrack from Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam )... the movie was about this guy who decided to go to Alaska...on foot just to live in the amazing wilderness of this place, of corse Alaska is huge but i recall there were some amazing places, beautiful lanscapes...all i kept thinking during this great movie was to take some nice pictures... ehehe!! Sometimes people tend to forget that there's much more than Washington and Ny in US!! Anyway don't forget to post you're works!! Have a great day...and i'm sorry for my english
Cheers

Thank you so much.... It was lovely being there---a little sound from the running water, otherwise, just the sounds of gulls, waterfowl and bald eagles. It was especially easy to feel at one with nature.

Great shot, like the cold feel that shows throughout the image. Great composition too, the framing with the trees either side, and the lead in from the lower left corner is spot on

Thanks so much, Alex! If I weren't working today, I'd be out there again... Not quite as nice out today, but not terrible. I'm praying for decent weather tomorrow. Might just pack a lunch and make a day trip out of it.

Awesome, you really captured the grandness and scale of this scene. I used to live in southern CO and miss being able to see such distance.

Another winner!
I'm planning to shoot similar work next year. I want to shoot mid evening so I can get very long exposures to give the water a glassy look.
That's my plan anyway, we'll have to wait and see if it works.

Muskeg In reply to davehare [2009-11-27 10:19:53 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping the weather will hold out this weekend... Will try some longer exposures, too. Might have to resort to an ND filter...

Thank you so much, Scott! I hope the weather behaves as well this weekend. There were scores of bald eagles there, as well as ducks and even some geese. I'll either have to take some rubber boots along or just go ahead and get my feet soaked. Almost lost a sneaker slogging along the shoreline. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving afternoon...
