Description ... Bring May flowers of course :3

My super-late submission for the month of April... I guess May will have to follow soon! This one is dedicated to my friend Amber, who requested a fox kit playing with the rain drops hehe ^^

I'm not totally satisfied with the water >.>;; I wasn't totally sure how to go about coloring ripples, and rain drops and such, so I dunno if it turned out so well... The longer I stare at it, it works I guess, but I'm still not that overall crazy about it, so I'm open to criticism as to how I could have done that better. I may still touch that up some more and re-submit it.

Colored pencils, markers, oil pastels, and chalk pastels, touched up in photoshop.

EDIT 9/14/09: Photoshopped the water some more... I think it looks a bit better now

Aw, so cute and chubby! :3
I think the main problem of the water is you've drawn the ripples wobbly, but water ripples go in circles, only straightening out if they meet resistance (e.g. another raindrop) O-o

I would definitely have to agree about the water, it was one of the first things that I noticed.

Overall though, it's great! I love the pose, and especially the front paws. The one in the water is a nice effect that came out very well.

The fox kit is cute. My main criticism of her would be the right eye (from the viewer's perspective) is a bit tilted inward, and the legs are a touch too thick, but she (or he) looks good.

The water works. It's not perfect, but I'm not particularly good at water, or backgrounds at all, so I can only provide a little advice. One thing I can say about it is that the perspective of the ripples is a little off. They should be more elliptical, to appear more flat and in line with the horizon. Maybe adding more blue to the water for contrast would help?

Altogether nice work.

Thank you, that is an idea about the water. I suppose that's true, I made it look too flat, as though you're looking on to it from above. As for the legs being too thick, I thought that too while I was drawing it, but I consoled myself in saying that since it's just a little baby, maybe it's limbs are supposed to be a little disproportionate at his age. Kinda like if you've ever seen a great dane puppy, they have these gianmorous feet that don't seem to fit them quite yet, but they'll grow into it hehe. Though this is of course no great dane puppy, but same concept I guess? idk...

They do tend to have proportionally thicker legs than adults. But not quite to that degree.
