Description Uni project. We had to shot a "portrait of a worker" using flash. I asked the owner of my local comic book shop. I shot all but one of the series with either fisheye or a wide-angle lens as the shop was very small and cluttered and I wanted more space in the images.

I love fish eye lenses Just a shame they're so expensive!

That was with my one, it's a russian "Peleng", which you can get for about £150.

I think it's about the cheapest you'll get a proper lens at - you can get a 35mm camera with one sort of built onto it for like £20-£30. Not sure how good they are, they're like a point and click camera with a fisheye basically.

The only problem I ahve with it is that it's fully manual, and focusing a fisheye lens is hard!

I bet it is! I quite enjoy playing with manual focus but I image it would be more tricky with fish eye!

It's almost impossible to do it by eye. There's a distance thing on the focusing ring which helps (if you're good at gestimating the distance or have a tape measure) but basically I resorted to bracketing the focusing, so I have one where it's focused too close, one to far, and hopefully one that's just right for each shot.

The way fisheye compresses so much image into the frame you cant even really tell by zooming right in on the camera screen to check after you’ve taken the shot. You have to wait to get it on the computer screen.
