Oh, wicked cool! I love the tree imagery and that you used vines for veins. (At least that's what I think those are) That blazing tree in the background contrasts nicely with the muted colors of the figures in the center. My inner color theorist is also pleased that you made the pinecone-heart-thing the same color as the darker leaves of the tree and tied both parts of the image together.
Overall, lovely use of color and imagery~ <3

That is a lovely bird he has there in his mind, it gives a humble atmosphere in that tight space.
I feel that it compels the young man to follow what he says.
Branches as the silhouette of the body, very nice. There are people who have become trees, where they are important but people treat them unfairly.
Sometimes they just change so much because of that and we do not know the person anymore.
The warm colours seem nostalgic, makes me think that the person who wishes to shape the boy's mind is someone very close to him, perhaps someone very dear.
I would also like to state that I am reminded of a phrase from a song.
"The mind is a wide open cage".
