Description It figures the one week I think I'm going to have plenty of time to make art ends up being almost too busy for it at all between emotionally supporting my friends, babysitting the cat, and everything else day to day life entails.

I may not have gotten nearly as much done this week as I wanted to, but I did manage to finish this smaller piece based on the prompt word "Shoot."

Originally, I was going to do a pose where she was kneeling with her weapon propped on her shoulder, but I had issues with proportions and things, so I went with my second choice instead.

Once I had the pose down, I actually wasn't sure what to do for clothes/looks, so I went to Pinterest and used a couple of different pictures to figure out the outfit, and then picked out a color palette. The palette I picked didn't have a skin color, so I decided to push myself a little and go for a darker tone than I normally would. I'd say it turned out fairly well. (This also gave me a chance to test out some new Copic marker colors, as sales, coupons, and lower retail prices at my local Michaels made it possible for me to get some more recently.)

Also, you'll have to forgive me if those guns don't look super realistic--I'm admittedly very not use to drawing weapons.

After all that, it felt kind of empty. I decided to do my usual air-brushed background and try a washi tape border, but before I put the border on it still felt like it needed something. I ended up grabbing a Dia de los Muertos coloring book for reference and adding the skull in the background--And have since decided that investing in a skull stamp wouldn't be a terrible idea. Then I outlined the girl with a Pentel Sparkle Pop, although admittedly I think I really should've done a white gelly roll outline first, but it's kinda too late to fix it.

It may not be my most elaborate piece ever, but I am still pretty happy with it and it gave me a chance to experiment and challenge myself in subtle ways.

I really hope I can finish up some other stuff to post soon, especially this one personal piece I've been working on for a while now. But we'll see, I guess.
