LOL, really? Names are pretty easy, sometimes, I usually try to go by the meanings.

I like your take on this, especially the way you colored her to to make her look scaly. The only thing I feel the need to point out is less about the quality of the picture (that's great) and more about why does she have breasts when she is clearly not a mammal? I like the picture though. I've always rejected the idea that a mermaid could be both mammal and fish at the same time. This one seems to be quite fish.

I've always had that same opinion! Realistically a merperson would be a fish, and not have any mammalian features (her breasts) but any time I draw them without they always get mistaken for men! Mostly I just wanted to make it obvious that my mermaid princess is, in fact, a lady.
Thanks for the interest!

In my own mermaid research, Google has provided me with this image. I've tried to find the actual source of it but to no avail, but it google does have a few other images to go with it that outline muscle structure more clearly. As nearly as I can tell, this is the perfect version of what a mammalian mermaid would look like, and be built like. I only wish I knew who to credit for it, aside from google. I like it because it actually includes a whole human skeleton. The only thing added are the additional vertebrae in the tail. And most importantly, NO KNEES haha. I hate when people depict mermaids as women in a skin tight leg suit thing.

I like that version because it makes it sensible for merhaids to still have hips and accounts for the placement of the leg and feet bones. Notice they're all still there, just moved/shrank. I like the idea of mammal mermaids because it still brings in room for the aesthetics of breasts, and who doesn't like those? If you look carefully you'll see that diagram is also anatomically whole. A lot of representations of mermaids don't account for the fact that They still need all the openings in their bodies any other living animal does.

A more realistic merperson, methinks. I like it!
