I know that they backstabbed us back when we tried to get away from the Spanish empire (as in, when the Dutch revolt began Belgium (or the southern Netherlands at that time, iirc) fought alongside us, but after a while they were like 'okay this isn't gonna work, lol bye' and instead turned against us and fought along Spain's side.. :/ hmm there was more but I'll have to check up in my old history books for that XD; they always had close ties to France, though, up to the point where half of the country is, as my Belgian friend once said, a bunch of France's ass kissers.. the country is pretty much split in two, there's the northern part (Flanders, or Vlaanderen in their language) where they speak Dutch (or well.. a Belgi-cized version of it ; p they understand Dutch perfectly fine while the other way around the Dutch barely can make out a word they say) and the people generally are more.. idk.. laid back, imo :/ and then there's the southern part (bordering France), which is called.. Wallonia? I'm not sure I don't know the English name for it, but yeah - the people from there are generally more stuck up and think of themselves as 'higher' than the 'dutch' Belgians and there's always a lot of bitching between the two parts whenever something international comes up and Belgium needs to be represented (like the eurovision song contest, lol, in the end they just figured they switch every year, Flanders gets to pick the artist for one year, Wallonia the year after, etc).. errr what else? Oh, the entire country (as far as I'm aware that is) learns French and Dutch in school, they're pretty much all expected to be billingual.. but then the southern folks pretend that they're not :/ seriously, speak Dutch to a random Wallonia-Belgian and they'll just go '...quoi?' and walk off - they understand it perfectly fine, they just friggin' refuse to speak it because dutch is inferior to french :/ in their opinion, at least. the other way around, though, whenever a wallonian visits flanders, they expect all the people there to speak french (note that the people in flanders speak dutch, yeah) :/ (and no firing your lasers in case any belgians read this, I'm not saying all of them are like this, but in general the Wallonians are way more stuck up than the Flanders folks :<)
err.. 'they' (EU folk) have been looking into partitioning Belgium for a while.. if it were to happen, Flanders would go to us, Wallonia would become part of France and.. idk a bit of the eastern part would go to Germany.. really stupid if you ask me but yeah :/ oh also, belgium's politics are about as steady as standing on quicksand is, lol, it's really wonky there due to the differences of flanders/wallonia and them pretty much not getting along.. idk about the details but I know it's pretty messy in their politics xD;
oh, and no matter what the dutch may tell you, FRIES WERE 'INVENTED' (lack of better word lol) IN BELGIUM. period. okay not sure since the dutch, belgians and french all claim they're theirs, but it's pretty sure they were made first somewhere around the southern Netherlands, which would mean they're either from northern Belgium or southern Netherlands (where I live~ |D).. but since the Belgians pretty much ace the fries-making I'd say they're theirs. -nodnod- ...and that's a big deal to us/belgium, seriously :'D we've got a bunch of stupid rivalry-things like that going on, so..
also we've got a lot of stereotypes of them, the biggest one being that they're, well, DUMB. as in lol-they-can't-think-as-advanced-as-we-do dumb. not sure where it comes from but if you ask any dutch about their opinion on belgians they'll probably say they're dumb.. XD (and they in turn think we're a bunch of stuck up druggies (.. which is partially true, the stuck up part, lol) who sit in our gardens all day long, smoking weed while we watch our tulips grow, ahaha ;D)

and.. well I'd say some more but that's all that's coming to mind right now (+ this is a too big wall of text already + headache D;) so I'll spam you with some more random stuff some other time :'D beware ohoho

and yeah, it's the same here in NL (as in, the same as in poland, not belgium), there's the 'majority' of the 'actual dutch' which is the entire western half of the country.. and then there's the northern folks, the frysians, who don't really fit in anywhere (they actually have an entire (official) language of their own, haha, it sounds like gibberish to most of us, but still) and there's the south, especially my province, where people talk differently and we're generally looked upon as those-morons-who-mingled-too-much-with-the-germans-and-belgians.. but I believe I ranted about that to you a while ago already so blegh XD

yeah ikr, the eurovision thing :'D only made it more awesome that this year's guy (from Flanders) made it so far in the finals, because generally the flanders entries have been failing worse than the wallonian ones..

My normal style isn't really interesting that's why I'm working on developing a style fitting my chibi style (3 "style" in one sentence, oh yeah). I want it to be easy to use and nice looking and I'm having lots of fun at the moment, just experimenting with it ^_^ (but on the other hand I still practice my realistic drawing).
