Just something random I started at Duckon but never really finished until last week. It's been a-sittin' in my folder but I forgot to scan it until now. So here it is!This poor fellow was inspired by Blind Guardian's A Night At The Opera CD...I'm maiming characters again. I'm not exactly sure who he is yet, but his wings were fun to draw! Er...wing. It reminded me how much I love, and hate, drawing feathered wings.
Tried that new style for my sketches with the parchment-y background and loose under-painting. Quite pleased with how it turned out.

Well, firstly, the background is one of mine, so you can snag a version of it over HERE if you want it for yourself. The wing took me a little while, and it has issues due to a certain lack of reference, but I'm still pleased with how it turned out. Glad you like it!

The blood stains are just the coffee stain brushes I use for backgrounds with a dark red colour instead of brown. They're really, really easy to make.

I really like the details in the feathered wing there and REALLY love the hand detail! How his knuckles/the lines coming back from them stressing the curl of his fingers and all look! Oh, it's eye-catching!!!!! Very dramatic!

It's been a really long time since I've drawn any angel-esque beings (my old sketchbooks used to be crammed with 'em) so it was really fun to draw this. I'm happy you found it interesting! And thank you!

Asymmetrical balance...or laziness? I'm pretty sure it's the latter here, but thank you! I'm thinking, if I ever do anything with this strange fellow, that I might just keep him having only the one wing and the one arm. As you put it, asymmetrical balance.
