Description This is another personal homage to one of more fascinant of forgotten WH 40.000 characters: Genestealer Patriarch.

On old Tyranid codex from second WH 40.000 edition, Patriarch is the main ruler of the evil genestealer cults, formed by hybrids, born from human infected by genestealers. The cult grows up into the imperium cities, supported by human cultists and commanded by Psychic Magus Advisor, the most human-like and powerful of hybrids. The two synaptic creatures wash the mind of human cultists and push them to rebellion. When the cult has grown enough, patriarch sends a psychic signal in order to attract the incoming Hive fleet, let them know that planet is ready for be devoured.

This is a free recreation of old Patriarch and Magus miniatures. Notice that both of them have similar gesture on their faces. This is due to their Synaptic connection, their collective mind. Basically, Magus translates PatriarchΒ΄s will to human language.

I remember seeing this years ago and it inspired me to sculpt an updated cult out of clay, however Games Workshop still refuse to revive the cult

I personally don't have the dough to raise a tabletop army of my own, but it's kinda grating to see GW retconning every last bit of 40K fluff that we've all come know and love over the years.

Are you speaking about my vintage Genestealer Cult Magus miniature? In that case: no, it is a vintage miniature from the old citadel miniature Genestealer Cult range, not a modified Tau Ethereal... Actually I have two Patriarchs, another magus and a lot of hybrids and old metal genestealers, but never painted them (I hope one day I will finish them).

oh Genestealers how I love you... possibly the only reason I even got into Tyranids was because their artwork/fluff and the ton of models I got with space hulk

great job on the artwork~ and I would not exactly call Patriarchs completely forgotten since they do still show up in fluff from time to time~

Nice work. Like the restyling of the Magus and the Patriarch along with the colour scheme. ANother interesting thing (I don't know if anyone else has mentioned or remembered it) was that genestealers coudl be controlled by Chaos as well as Tyranids. Now that Apocalypse has arrived, this could make for a very intersting army!

Yeah. Now I remember. That allience between Chaos and Tyranids was very inspiring. Today it seems impossible with current background. I remember a curious detail: on the old 32-bits Space Hulk game for PC, PSX and Saturn, there was chaos marines on some missions, and on walls there was sometimes illustrations of chaos demons (from Realm of chaos old books) near tyranid symbols... Very classic.

Those are awesome!

The charackters themself are fantastic, but what i really fancy are those small details all over the place, ie the magos has actually six limbs. (A really cool idea, which will make it into a mini, once i have the time for it) or the small feder-tendril stealer, lurking under the throne.

One minor criticsm is the eyes of the staff-symbol. I guess it shall be a gem, but it gives it a little ciby-flair.

None the less a fantastic piece that really brings up "the good old times"
