Description This was a very new experience for me that I never thought I would be required to do. In the end, printmaking is actually a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed carving out of the rubber stamp.

This woman doesn't hold much value to me. I simply found her in a magazine and thought she looked nice. This does her no justice, but I find this makes her look more Renaissance.

There are many ways to do printmaking, but what I had to do was find a picture and redraw it onto a piece of paper. I needed to make the lines precise, because when you lay said paper onto your rubber stamp (the paper and the stamp need to be the same size for obvious reasons) drawing down you are supposed to color the back of the drawing with graphite so the picture will magically transfer onto the rubber stamp. I think you actually have experience with this to some extent. Anyway, after the drawing has been transferred, I was given a carving tool and was told to carve out all the areas I didn't want to be colored. After I finished that, I rolled some white paint onto my stamp and gently set it down onto the construction paper. It's actually pretty difficult to make the paint come out well, because it can spread and ruin the picture altogether and you'll have to retry with the paint portion. I gently tapped the back of the stamp all over then pulled it away. Repeat carving for another color to add depth and contrast.

Sorry if that was long-winded, but it is kind of a project (for lack of a better word).
