For the first time in 2016, something different than birds - a dolphin! The first of this year.Personal work. Had a blast with this

Thank you! I was inspired by some striped dolphins on photos that had unusually beautiful and elaborate markings. They look like ceremonial war paint indeed!

Gah, thank you, all your comments are so sweet! I just loved the close-y up feeling here (plus I got to use one of my dear dolphin friends as pose reference which I always a plus)
I totally went overboard with the blue saturation and for a change I loved it (it's all the7thsea's fault with her overly blue gorgeous stuff).
Ohh and those markings I love them. I think I exagerrated them a bit, because looking back on my original refs none of the dolphins actually looked like that haha. But that's also ok for a time.

I just love doing it! I really am a bit of a detail freak hahaha. This was actually a pretty nice change because I managed to finish it in just a few hours. Still couldn't resist the temptation of the eye though

Hahaha, gosh, imagine how I feel when you make a new piece and literally go 'oh my god' when I see it in my inbox
But I'm very glad you like it! The cropping is indeed pretty tight, at first the pec fin was completely in there, but in the end I sacrificed it in favour of a more intimate view. I just really wanted the focus to lie on the eye and the gorgeous markings that happen around it
