Description
A CGHub submission where the topic required artists to redesign a monster from Greek mythology. I chose the Chimera and decided to put a volcanic/lava twist to it - which relates to the origin of it's name: a volcano that was also named Chimera.Edit: I forgot to mention, if anyone's interested, I have a process log on how I painted this pic on my blog: [link]

This is the stuff of a theriogenologist's nightmares.

This picture is very well done, the shading of the fire on its body is perfect, the pose looks, well, imposing the ground and the background looks great and it just adds onto the power the chimera seems to pour into the scene.
If I had to find a mistake, the only thing I can find is that the Chimera had a second head of a goat on its back, but that is just nitpicking.

Yes, the big selling point of the Chimera is indeed the two heads. But the picture does compensate on this "scary" detail being taken away (or combined with the Lion head as you pointed out) with the big contrast of fire and black coal-like skin of the Chimera which makes it look like a hell spawn or something like that, which in the long run is pretty good in its own right (and a very original take on the Chimera along with the tail being a cobra and not a regular snake. Cobras are scary because everyone recognizes it as a poisonous dangerous snake even if it isn't the most poisonous or dangerous snake out there).

well that depends on what I become interested in when I go for training in college. I'll be trained in anything from programming to 2D character development...basically everything lol.
