Oh boy... this... THIS ICONThe literal stuff of nightmares oh my god..
I wanted to practice making animated icons again, so I thought I'll do my OC Seraphina this time and make it more detailed too. Oh man... I was not expecting the TROUBLE it gave me!
First off, trying to make it not look like trash when resized to 50x50 was a battle of itself, so was trying to make it under the 15kb dA icon limit. I wasn't planning on submitting this but I really liked how it turned out especially considering all the work I put into it. So enjoy it at its full size lol
I miiigghht make this available for commission next time. It'll be pretty expensive though cuz this was so hard;;

There's no special app for it, you just gotta draw and animate yourself XD

I used Paint Tool SAI for drawing and Photoshop for animating. Standard drawing tools really, anything that would allow you to draw and animate would work.Β

Great job! I've been doing icons on DA for years, and yes I can say you nailed this. Especially the ratio-- 300x300 is definitely the max canvas size for a 50x50 resize without it becoming totally dithered. ^^

I'm glad you like these! I'll probably open these the next time I open commissions~ probably around $50-70 depending on the complexity of the character and any extra animation the commissioner would like ;u; it's expensive cuz these are a lot of work and I'll be drawing every one from scratch after all~

I kind of like making these but they can be a challenge i have to say
my only problem i have is with keeping the quality for the png when i make it a gif it always comes out a bit pixely as a big gif
but you did a wonderful job i love the colors and everythingΒ

Thanks! I didn't really have a problem with the gif cuz I expected it to be pixel-ly. But the resize thing was actually a surprising challenge! my last icon came out terrible when I tried to resize lol, so I was resizing and checking this one in photoshop while I was making it XDΒ
Actually had to redraw the eyes since apparently, my style doesn't lend well to icon sizes

Aww I canβt afford Β photoshop so I can only us gimp and I havenβt fawns anything in gimp that will help with the pixelΒ

I use Paint Tool SAI to pixellate stuff, and I've pixelled things and animated them in GIMP before through manually copying and pasting the pics... I found out a way to make the GIFs transparent at one point, but I haven't messed with GIMP in nearly a year since my computer promptly took a shite...

I us sai as well and i have no trouble with it when i us the best canvas you can have on there
and i have already found basically all the things you can do with gimp and the animation settings...Β

I don't think there's anything that can be done with the pixels since gif is innately bad quality lol. What I've done instead is to rely on cel-shading instead with little blurring, the pixel effects don't seem as bad then XD
