Adorable. Is Tsuki really sleeping like that in your hand?
I have a hamster called Suki, but she doesn't want to sleep in my hand.

A hamster willing to sleep belly-up in your hand really trusts you.

Hell, letting you look at, nevermind touch their bellies is a huge gesture in itself.

I do pet her belly when she is like this. She doesn't mind or bite. She likes less when I pick her up when she is sleeping on the cage.

Well, most animals don't like being woken up by getting carried off somewhere. Sets off primal coding in their brains.

That is not the reason, because she wakes up before she is carried LOL

Still hits on that genetic memory of ancestors being snatched up into the sky and eaten whole by birds of prey.

I know that, you shall not even pick them in certain aways, otherwise they may think your fingers are beaks and will bite you.

Yup. Especially true for the lower forms of Rodentia. Rats and mice tend to be smarter about fingers than the others, especially rats. Then again, rats ARE fully sentient.

Well, my hates when I pick her from the cage with the first and second finger on hand only. I usualy pick her with both hands.

You scoop her. That's good. Using one hand reminds them of talons.

Of course I pick her up lol she does not mind as long as it is in a certain way, with patience

Before I had a roborovski, it was a lot harder to deal with. Although I miss him so much, tsuki is much more kind with people. She's a russian hamster, they're more social with people and shall not be kept with other hamsters, while roborovskis are better to keep with others of the same breed, but they're not so easy when it cames to people :/ And they're super small which makes it even harder to pick them.

I had dwarf hamsters in my youth. We used to have an entire huge cage with all sorts of cool stuff for them to play with.
