At age 22, Tsuya is well known as a tough-as nails mechanic who prefers to let her fists speak for her, and they speak quite eloquently judging by the lasting impression of terror made on the students in her old high school. Her psychic powers, awakened around the same time as those of her younger brother Kaname, are mostly comprised of the ability to search through and copy others' memories, limited weak premonitions, and incredibly strong empathy made stronger by physical contact.

However, Tsuya's greatest power is also her greatest weakness--her ability to feel the emotions of those around her is three times as strong when she touches them, but as she knows no long-range spirit energy attacks, she needs to be able to touch an enemy in order to defeat them.

Tsuya's empathic powers are easily overloaded, resulting in severe headaches, mood swings, and an overall emotional wreck. Physically, she prefers to remain distant from those around her, but her ' protective older sister' nature makes her a source of emotional support that even Hiei's willing to rely on if he needs it. It was possibly that same inner strength that attracted Youko Kurama to her--either way, he's stuck with her now.
