Happy AkuRoku Day 2013!
Just a little comic strip I did for 8/13~
...You can tell just how much I gave up on the coloring OTL. I promise I'll get better, I swear! I'm experimenting with different coloring techniques and whatnot TT^TT

I decided not to do something blatantly romantic for them, like how I did last year. Because while I love the romance and fluff that can come out of AkuRoku, what I love most about it is how precious their friendship was throughout the games. How Axel was Roxas's first friend back when he was an Organization XIII member, and how attached Axel got to Roxas as time when on. You could practically see how hurt he was when Roxas left, even though he wasn't supposed to have a heart. He even promised Roxas [and Xion, though now they don't remember her] that he would always be there to bring him back.
Come KH2, and Axel basically spent most of the game trying to retrieve Roxas, going so far as to kidnap Kairi and making plans to turn Sora back into a Heartless, just so he could get Roxas back. And then he sacrificed his life for Sora...or perhaps someone else (as said in Axel's character bio in KH3D).
Even in Dream Drop Distance, Lea had a dream before waking up, about his promise he made to Roxas back when he was Axel. And in that dream, he said "Best Friends Forever..."

Their friendship was one of the most heartwarming, and also most heartbreaking moments in the KH games, in my personal opinion. Which is why I chose to focus more on their friendship this AkuRoku Day. So I hope you like it c:
