I was going to wait until Ples' first real introduction into the comic before I did this photoshoot, but the past couple days have been such shit I needed a break to do some cosplay.

I'm quite proud of how the photography and lighting worked out since they were such a pain in the butt to figure out to begin with and in the end I couldn't narrow my choices down to less than four pictures and I uploaded them all. They're pretty similar. I'm sorry.

Ugh I don't wanna go back to doing homework CAN IT BE A-KON NOW PLZ?

I love this whole shoot. The lighting really fits the mood and the backdrop is fantastic. This shot in particular makes your hair look amazing.

These look fantastic!! I really love how the lighting and colors came out. Did you have to use any Photoshop filters or adjustments? Also, the vest and the pattern on the backdrop? UNF.

I used very, very little Photoshop post-processing on these, which I'm actually kinda proud of. I adjusted the contrast, ran a slight Unsharp Mask, and gave then a very subtle soft light filter, but that's just slightly over the bare minimum processing I normally do. I did shoot this in a dark room with only one (highly controlled) light source, and I think that cut down on the color wash-out.

The corsage is single-ply tissue paper, and the backdrop is a sheet of fabric draped over my shower curtain. I'm sitting on the edge of the bathtub. And YES, damaske patterns are LUF. ♥ Sooo Victorian.

Wow, that's crazy! The overall blueish hue is awesome.

Hahaha, I can't believe how such simple materials and setup can come out so well. You're a magician!

LED clip-on desk lamps ftw!

I got the idea to do this a while back when I saw these two photos: [link] [link] The way the sheen of the backdrop made it seem like the pattern itself changed in a kind of spotlight around the cosplayer... I couldn't get the idea of that effect on a Victorian print out of my head and - lo and behold! - JoAnn.com had about seven colors in that pattern on their site for $5 a yard. The stuff is so shiny my face nearly exploded taking it out of the box. It's pretty exciting.

I'm less of a magician and more of an obsessively curious geek.

Ack! Yeah, *behindinfinity 's cosplay shots (as well as his photography, geez) are so amazing! I definitely see the effect you're talking about.

Well the obsessive curiosity comes off as magic!
