Description
This is the second of three rather fantastic illustrations that bemerry created before Xmas, and another example of his excellent work.

Hannah used modern technology to travel to her holiday destination via teleporter, but then ignored the medical advice to sleep off the effects and decided to make straight for the pool instead. On the way she slipped on the wet tiles and landed on the novelty dolphin pool-toy she was carrying at the time.

As the pool-toy was also suffering the after-effects of the matter transportation, their forms merged on an atomic level, meaning that there had to be a compromise made between the two objects trying to occupy the same space at the same time. What resulted can be seen here, as Hannah gained the skin of the dolphin and it's tail, but otherwise kept her human features.

In order to deal with the radical changes this made necessary in her life, Hannah tried to live by the maxim of being given lemons and making lemonade, in that she retrained as a diver and took courses in ocean biology. She now works as a guide and researcher at a very progressive aquarium, though I am told that for all of her scientific professionalism on the job, she is rather fond of having her intimate partners make use of her handles when they are alone.

And the story which inspired it: Literary Sketch: Playthings by the PoolsideThe storm that had brought a torrential rain and lashing winds to the island blew away almost as quickly as it had arrived, lifting the stilting heat which had clung to the beeches, stands of tropical trees and rocky hills and leaving the air itself fresh, damp and reinvigorated. Each of the villas that occupied a desirable nook in amongst the rocky landscape and its own private sandy cove was already in pristine condition as it awaited the arrival of its next tenants. But the progress of the storm left everything similarly saturated with an aura of naturally inviting cleanliness and smoothed away the remnants even of the last human presence.
Inside any one of the villas, there was to be found no means of exiting onto a path or street that would lead away from it and into the interior of the island. Instead there existed only a wall of sliding glass panels which looked out onto the broad, paved patio and generous swimming pool in its centre. Similarly there was no sign of a kitc
