'bout two hours of work, was very happy to really draw again, instead of losing myself into some long hours of details!I really start to appreciate doing some concept sketches instead of some matte paintings which takes like forever.
I will maybe put a few pictures on this to bring the little more it needs to be really finish, but... I love sketches and it's a form of art, isn't it!

The picture is totally stunning overall. The detail on the debris in the foreground is perfect in my opinion -- just enough to suggest what each thing is (or was) but conservative enough to allow the viewer to interpret things with his or her own imagination. The tattered flag of course is a powerful symbol, and I think it really pulls the image together with the suggestion that this land was once something magnificent, and adds to the mystery!
If I had to point out some area of improvement, I'd suggest spreading some of the darker, hazier quality in the left portion of the sky onto the right side -- right now it's pretty dark on one side of the stone turret, and immediately lighter on the other side. If the fade was a little more drawn out and smoother, I think it would look more natural.
I'm really enjoying the dark and dramatic mountains on the left side in particular, and the whole hazy, cloud-obscured feel altogether. Fantastic job!

I agree with the fact that left side is darker than the right one. That was to bring more contrast around the red flag, to have a better center of interest, but obviously, I lost some natural feelings.
