Description Arrrrgh, the scanner did such horrible things to this one. DX Like, more so than it usually does. It was a little better after adding the texture and a smoothing effect, but it still looks much better in real life. Ah well.

Soooo in Art III our second big project was to do colored self-portraits in any medium we chose. I considered doing mine in Copics, especially after the ever-talented ~Troy105 did his in pen, but I wasn't sure how that would work out because I'd never really used them for anything more complex than a shaded cartoon. So I decided to go with the "safer" medium of oil pastels instead--for class, anyways. (And no, I won't be posting it because my expression is absolutely hideous. XD "It's about color theory, not your beautiful faces,", says the teacher.)

I still wanted to try a Copics portrait independently, though, so I whipped up this thing. The reference photo I used was a few years old (I think I was around 14 at the time it was taken...I'm 16 now,), but it did the trick. I took it in to show my teacher and needless to say, I think I blew her mind when I told her that I did it in marker. XD She even had to call her daughter (who is an art teacher at the other local school) and tell her about it. XD And now she wants me to do an official Copics picture in class. So I guess that's what I'm doing tomorrow. Guess this medium was a success. XD

Initial sketch done in about 15-20 minutes.
Actual process of coloring done in about 1hr 25min.
