Description This is the last shot I got of the Fisher.  So far these are the best shots I have of this elusive critter!

Yeah .. I have lots of Hawks, but I did see an Eagle last weekend as it flew over me while I was down along the Charles River. too high up for a postable shot though.

keep trying ... it will pay off and you'll have really great shots. Envious I have only seen one in the wild and it was to far off for good pix!

Hi Tim, yeah this one made my day yesterday! The trouble I have is you really can't pattern these little buggers. I have tried to many times and always come up empty. They have such a broad range, and unpredictable times.. it just ends up being a target of opportunity. all the times I have tried to set up and wait for him, it comes by when the light is not good enough for a decent pic. I once went about 2 miles down river to wait him out figuring that would put me in the right time frame... nope the little guy didn't even show that time. They are basically a nocturnal animal, so seeing them in daytime is only a chance encounter.they are usually in the den by sun up.

find the den, or bait it

I think I might try the bait aspect...but this one would probably only visit it at night. If it doesn't pan out after a weekend of trying....then I'm going den hunting. It has to be along this river somewhere reasonably close by.it was to late in the morning for it to be very far off.

Good captures. I don't believe we have anything like these here in the midwest. I think the closest we come are river otters

Thank you Tony! yeah they aren't  that common out this way.probably 1 in every 12 square miles. Just a lucky chance meeting. I've seen this one many times before but always way earlier when the sun is just peeking over the tree line.at least now I have proof that I do see them.

Hi Synari! yeah it was cool seeing this one with some good light! Most of the time it's just a dark shape moving through the woods at dawn.
This is a classic example of the Fisher being late in it's routine and me being in the right place an time!

This is a great photo of the Fisher. The beautiful background adds an excellent touch to the overall composition.

Hi, Thank you! I would've liked it if he turned and looked my way for this pic.. but it was on the hunt and never looked in my direction. I've waited a long time to see this one with enough light to capture a pic. Most of the time it's still way too dark to get any decent shots of him, when I see it.

I hear you. It often seems one has to compromise a glamour shot for one where the animal is doing something interesting.
