I find your doodles to be inspiring and enjoyable Yes, they're doodles, but as someone who's been worldbuilding and designing his own fictional setting for the better part of his life, I find that doodles help give me a feel for the artist who's doing them Its good that you use references like you should I can't think of a single professional who doesn't.

Btw, do you have your own reference folder of images and such? I know these days you can just look whatever you want up online and be done with it, but I find that having a collection of images for your own personal use and reference is still ridiculously invaluable

I find doodles very good for passing time and of course, improving one's drawing skills. Talking about a reference folder, I have a virtual one on my desktop, updated almost everyday with stuff I want to draw.

Exemplary I know lots of artists who don't, which is sad, because nothing beats having references

Yeah, to draw guns accurately you'll need reference pictures. I think only the really experienced artists can draw a gun or rigle from memory... and most specially if he/she has experience with such weapons.

But like I say, give it more practice and it gets easier with time.

Yup, I got used used to the AR-15s because I've been doodling them for 2 years in my high school notebooks.
Thanks for the advice btw.

its not toally a bad idea, its a good memory exercise and sometimes you come up with good designs for fictional guns. im still trying to make rifle designs that look good but dont have so much detail i want to pull my hair out when i draw more then one of them on a page

The only challenge in drawing guns without references is to make them looking close to the real thing.
Thanks btw.

I know that feeling. Haha! I draw most of my stuff without references and then I go back later and think, "Ugh, this is ALL WRONG! NEVER AGAIN!"

You've managed to make them look good though!

I think it's pretty fun drawing stuff without any references, it leaves plenty of space to our imagination and memory.
