Description A new series that I worked on and would like to explain what it's all about so it doesn't appear to be something it's not. I originally got the idea from this book "Femme Fatale" I found at my local Building 19 (best store ever when it comes to art/coffee table books, etc.)

See the book here on half.com: [link]

The book basically outlines the different views on women throughout the twentieth century and how we have evolved from 1900. The pages are filled with various actresses and models of today playing different roles of women throughout history. There are also some pages of text outlining the different eras and this is actually where I got my idea for this shoot.

"1910.1919

World War I shattered the last vestiges of the belle epoque, altering women's views of themselves and their role in society. With the majority of young men at the front, women of all classes were called into service in fields far beyond the traditional role of the domestic. Employment in factories and other decidedly unglamorous venues demanded a newfound practicality in clothes and hair. That, couples with a growing interest in sports, led to newly casual women's fashions, such as sweaters, skirts and trousers. Finally, women unlaced that symbol of bondage and sexual repression, the corset, a move faciliated by the development of a new undergarment, the brassiere."

Hence what my photos are about. It's not the full effect of what I wanted, but when all you have is a corset, desk lamp lighting and an old melted tube of red lipstick, you take what you get.

I hope you like...this is a new direction for me!

Interesting and erotic. Cool. The lighting works very well in this one. Did you have a lack of model also?

I always have a lack of model and it can be very frustrating. Do you ask because you can tell it's me or do you ask because you feel the angle is awkward, etc?...or both!

I could kinda tell it was you. Don't ask how. And besides that it looked as though you may have propped up your camera to take the picture and had to be close enough for you to snap the shot. And judging from your other pictures, it's not in your style to get close-ups like this when you're working with your models. But you do manage to prevent this from looking like a classic "myspace pic".... you know the ones. However you did it, you managed to use the lighting well and the cropping is very nice.

Thank you, I really do try. And I am very Henri Cartier-Bresson about it because I pretty much refuse to crop any of my photos. It forces me to learn to better frame/compose.

I find it interesting you could tell it was me

So this is the composition as-shot? If so, that's impressive! It's a great image.

Is it a good interesting or bad interesting? I feel kinda creepy because I can tell it's you.
