Many of the caged cats were happy to spend their days in the dark. To them, the echoing halls and metal bars meant security compared to the sandy arena above. Some feared the light and the fights that came with it. Theia no longer cared whether she was below or above; she was still captive either way. While the dark brought quiet, it also brought boredom. The arena brought pain and noise, but it also brought activity.
She almost preferred the arena. If one blocked out the noise of the audience, they could almost hear the waves hitting the docks. Over the churned sand and crowded human bodies one could smell the breeze that came off of the mountains. Those were the sounds and scents of freedom, and Theia was going to fight anyone who stood between her and escape.
