At Laugh Tale, Luffy is taught the Haki technique of Pirate Kings- Mantle Haki- involving absorbing the Ambition of one's crew-mate to help achieve what neither can do alone- essentially merging the individuals with the crewmate being the "Mantle" worn over the Captain- sort like the Jacket-Jacket Fruit but on a much more potent scale.

In this variation, he takes on Lotan as a Mantle and gains his Sea Sovereign powers on top of his own.
