What great photos. I think I would prefer them separately rather than as a pair; the one on the left is my especial favorite. I love the depth to the darkness around his eyes. Really nice.

oh, but the way i see it is obviously quite different from the way other people see it... i mean... to me, only the right or only the left photo wouldn't be enough. cause... in my opinion, the contrast between the two photos is what makes it great, what links them together. on the left photo, he's all "hidden behind a mask" in a metaphorical meaning and then on the right one, the mask is lifted, and it's his true smile i mean... on the left photo he's posing (but even though, the photo's still GREAT) and on the right photo... he might have felt silly or smth, anyhow, he's natural so in a way... on one photo it's him, playing a role in society, or just anywhere in any meaning, and on the right hand side he's... himself and that's where i see this wonderful contrast. And needless to say, BOTH photos are wonderful, just by themselves.
Ohhh, i don't know your bf, so i can't really judge, can i? so that's just my humble opinion... judging by the looks of the whole thing

the left one is a great picture. if it didn't have the right one on it, i would totally fav it. the left is so full of emotion of darkness and actually fits the scheme of black and white. the smiley one should be sepia or color.
