Description
This is the medium sized red dragon I made for a local auction to showcase my work. ^_^

So much work went into this thing, I definitely went a tad overboard. Haha
He was originally going to be scrapped, as this was the sculpture that my cats destroyed. I thought for sure there was no possible way I could salvage it because the structural form was so badly damaged. But he was indeed salvageable! I had to add about 1lb of extra clay to his body to save him though, so he is among my top 3 heaviest sculptures I've ever made, weighing in at nearly 3lbs. The record holder still being Midnight:

This dragon was just sort of made up as I worked on it, and I haven't really defined it into a character because it may end up going to a random home that has no knowledge of how OC's work. So it's best that I just leave it up to whomever owns him to decide.

He does have some special features though.

One of the most obvious being my signature feature of the posable wings. They can be folded, extended, curled, you name it. They have over 360 degrees of motion range and are sturdy enough to withstand quite a bit of fiddling and movement.
His next feature is his unique stand with is rigged with LEDs so it can light up. The power box is hidden within a volcano sculpt at the back of the stand and is easily accessible. The stand itself was also a unique challenge, as I've never made lava before. I ended up using a hand-made mixture of silicone and piped it into pre-drilled channels to give a flowing effect. This process also sealed and protected the LEDs inside.

Time Taken: About 48 hours (over a 2 month work period)
Materials Used: Super Sculpey, Super Sculpey Firm, acrylic paint, satin fabric, cotton fabric, masking tape, galvanized aluminum wire, BrightGlo LED light strand, 100% clear silicone (with added dye), crystal clear resin (on eyes), and air dry clay for the stand.
Number of Problems During Construction: 7
Height: 4.3 in. (at top of head)
Length: 10.8 in. (nose to tail)
Wingspan: 24 in. (tip to tip/ both wings)
Weight: About 3 lbs
