One curious detail about Fraggle Holes is that Doc's shed seemed to have two of them. One of the ones from the cave of Fraggle Holes (whatever it was called) seemed to emerge from under the floor of the shed, directly into the outside. And the one we all knew about emerges into the workshop. And, of course, Michael Jackson had six -- he bought them all on e-Bay and had them installed in his bedroom. But he never touched any Fraggles improperly, of course...

Yes, I remember the second Fraggle hole as seen in Red's Blue Dragon. There are at least two others in the neighborhood too, one in the wooded area where Doc was walking Sprocket, and another near the Captain's Inn.

I recall the one in the woods, now that you mention it. I'm not sure I recall the other. For some reason, this neighborhood in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick is riddled with Fraggle Holes. (I assume those two provinces because the show was shot in Canada -- Toronto, actually -- and makes tons of references to the Canadian maritimes.)

I don't think the show, specifically Doc's segments, are set in Canada; I don't get a Canadian vibe at all. And when Doc moved to The Desert, he never mentioned moving to another country, which I would think would be a significant matter. (Canada has a few desert-like areas, but they aren't true desert.) I always imagined he was in California somewhere.
However, they were careful not to give any concrete data on where Doc lives, aside from it being on the coast, so we don't know for sure. And, hey, Canada might be riddled with Fraggle holes anyway.
We saw that there is a Fraggle hole by the Captain's Inn in the episode with the concrete gnomes that Doc and Sprocket painted up. Matt and Gobo came up near the inn and were frightened by the gnomes.

You're quite right that they deliberately give no clues to location, but if you are Canadian there's no ignoring the subtle feeling, generated by many small details, that this is in Canada. I can't really give any concrete examples, though. (That Uncle Matt spends most of his first season adventures exploring Toronto might be one.) As for the desert, I take it that he moved to someplace like Edmonton or Lethbridge, Alberta, which is as desert like as Denver or Cheyenne. For airing in other countries, the segments with Doc and Sprocket were shot locally, sometimes with rather different situations. In France, the Silly Creature was a baker, in England a lighthouse keeper. Oddly, in Germany he remained an inventor, and the copied Doc's workshop rather closely. Basically, they wanted the viewers of every country to think Fraggle Rock was under France, England, Japan, Turkey or wherever. But we all know that Fraggle Rock is under Everywhere.

If he doesn't, Gobo will just have to sit on Wembley until his brain returns from its out-of-body experience.

I'm a great fan of the Schtroumpfs since... as long as I can read... we had all the books at home, and I'm trying to buy them again with my husband... they're so awesome!
I think your had lettering is pretty good, though...

I can speak and read French, but I wouldn't call myself fluent. I don't have a favorite Smurf; I'm not that big a fan.

Thank you for making a picture of nostalgia. I loved both of those shows(or rather all three. I saw at least one or two episodes of the animated Fraggle Rock). Also, both will have a movie made(Smurfs movie will come sooner).

I will pray that it doesn't fall through. A movie anticipated getting cancelled is like ...something very disappointing(analogies are not really my best thing)

To be honest, the most resent pre-limbo news didn't make us feel very optimistic. They wanted to make it "edgy," and considering who has the movie rights, that does not bode well.
