Description Okami is one of my all-time favorite games. One bit that actually makes me a little misty is Issun's speech at the end. It's not often you can interrupt a long, nasty boss battle with a sermon and get away with it. So, here's Issun, painting prayer slips like there's no tomorrow and exhorting everyone to pray for Amaterasu.

I haven't used a sumi-style brush in forever because I'm not comfortable with the lack of precise control, but for this piece it seemed the only appropriate tool. The colors are done in a looser fashion than my normal style as well. All in all, this was a fun experiment. Oh, and the picture on the prayer slips is official Capcom art.

In my AstroBoy fan-fic, at the pinnacle of my writing career, the Amaterasu corporation created the Jissouseki. Doctor Ochanomizu aka Elefun aka Pachydermus regards the company as EVIL !

Issun's my favorite character in that game.

it was a very. long. speech. But I guess it only hurt because I was interrupted the first time fighting the final boss, so I had to do it over again. D:
Really nice work on Issun^_^

The speech startled me at first. Hey, I'm in the middle of a grueling boss battle, and now Issun wants to jabber? But it gave me a chance to flex my aching hands and wrists, and it really did make sense within the story.

I've always favored story-oriented games. My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy 9. I can see someone who is more into pure gameplay might get annoyed - but the game does give you the option to skip the cutscenes.

I'm also very fond of 9 ^_^ I like the integration of the play among other things. I didn't feel it was too cutscene heavy anyway, unlike 10.... gameplay-wise I am verrry fond of the system for learning abilities from items, none of that FF8 junctioning bosh.
I keep meaning to do FF9 fanart but nothing satisfactory ever comes out :/

I really liked the ATE idea. See cutscenes so you can tell what's happening to characters who aren't spotlighted right then? Nice! But, to my knowledge, they didn't use ATEs in any other game.

Have I mentioned that I have a Final Fantasy 9 website? It's The Vivisection , and has art, fanfic, a kisekae doll, a music video, and other stuff.

yeah, that was a neat feature. The closest thing to that in another game would be FFX-2, where you could check in on people through a sphere in the ship. You could tune into other places via sphere but there was also no guarantee anyone would be there when you did.

Ah, you have not mentioned this. I shall check it out post-haste.
I also offer this website, though it isn't mine: [link]
There's a lot of FF9 fanart in the gallery, and I like the style.

Wow, that's some good art. And a lot of Fullmetal Alchemist, too. Seems a lit of fans of FF( like FMA - possibly because Ed and Zidane are practically twins.

Thank you! Yes, that was a great moment in the game. Out of curiosity, did you play the PS2 or Wii version?

Ah. The Wii version, as I understand it, doesn't have the full ending. I'm not sure exactly what they left out from the PS2 version though - the trip to the Celestial Plain, the credits movie (Amaterasu pacing by a long scroll) or something else.

The Wii version also has a very strange bug called the "conehead bug." It causes Amaterasu's head to sometimes get freakishly distorted. Did that happen in your game?

I think those are "Karmic Transformers" or something. There are a bunch of them. PLain white wolf, boxer, Pomeranian - basically all the dogs in the game, colored white - plus a few variations. My favorite is the one that looks like Amaterasu from the original in-studio promo: naturalistic, without the sumi outline.
