This is my new niece, Emma. Only one week old. I made the photo greyscale and fiddled around with the levels and contrast to get the effet I was looking for. That's Mum's hand holding her of course

Gorgeously captured... you make a minute out of this new life seem like a monument to the beginning of her whole existence. The image really exudes the aura of new life and hope, of a curiosity for a life just beginning in her yet-unmarked face. I'm not a baby-fan but you've really pinpointed what makes them so precious. Wonderfully sweet image! The tones and contrast are very nice as well. Seems I recall seeing something much like this by Annie Lebowitz or one of the high-end female photogs.
