Description The Toymaker (Tristis Vir) and the Doll (Jadhe).

As a young man Tristis displayed great potential in the Arts. Drawing, Music and Philosophy. He was to become a surgeon and follow in the footsteps of his father. One of the Cities most renowned doctors during the victorian age. He left behind his childhood sweetheart to pursue a career at a prestigious medical university at sixteen, quickly becoming a renown anatomist draughtsman, sketching cadavers while gaining his degree. He travelled often to different parts of Europe to attend various dissections. Having to travel to where fresh bodies were available for study.

However, it wasnt really what he wanted. He grew tired of the lectures and ungrateful work, and after four years he left to pursue something for himself, something he would enjoy. Upon returning to his hometown, his path crossed with his childhood love.. Jadhe.. and a relationship quickly flourished. The two were married quickly and together left for a brighter future in the new world (America), he was twenty now, veiwed as a man at that age, and her 17. Together they opened a buisness named "Laughter Toys".

Spurred on by his love, the Toymaker became popular within the growing city, creating Toys of the finest in realism. Together the young couple it seemed were surrounded in the joy and laughter of the children and parents of the city, and together they longed for a child of their own. His love had a fond interest in herbalism and folk medicine, also becoming interested in occult magics and potions. An innocent interest with which he too was curious. It was these interests that were their downfall.

On the night of November 17th 1887 Laughter Toys was burned to the ground with their bodies inside. The Toymaker was beaten, stabbed, burned and hung by the frenzying crowd. Now resurrected, returned to the world for unknown reasons to him, presumably his loves practice of the dark magics, (Jadhe had written a life spell in her blood for him just before they were murdered) A changed man, clinging to his sanity and humanity, The Toymaker wanders the dark raining streets in what he believes is "Cleansing" .

Cutting up the faces of narsasitic whores. decapitating drug takers and Removing specific parts of anatomy from rapists. The Toymaker often lacks decent judgment when it comes to people who resemble his lost love, Or seeing happy couples in the street. Constantly saddened and wracked with more emotional pain than a normal human could ever withstand. He can sense and feel others emotional pain and misery, which is usually how he can weed out his victims. Even with his knowledge of human anatomy rarely does he kill, believing that he is helping these people overcome the evil of their ways.

He is without righteousness and usually appears saddened and deep within his own thoughts, and can often be found drawing in the burnt out remains of the laughter toys attic, where he now resides. The only thing that brings him any peace from his torment is his cleansing, Self harm and the shell of his lost love. The doll with which he has created in her image, to keep him company and defy death to keep her at his side.

Aah. Such a moving story.
Also, a beautiful picture. The hair, the folds on the shirt, their expressions... Simply amazing.
With this as your jumping-off point into digital art, you're gonna go places
Did you use a lot of reference for this?

Thankyou ^^ thats really nice of you to say..

The characters are supposed to go from two extremes as they are very emotionally unstable... they are very sad or very violent... sort of like an extreme form of bi-polar.

The funny thing was I drew this image when I was sad myself, makes me wonder wether you can project how you feel into an image, because I was happy with how sad I made them look here.

I drew the rough image as sort of a thumbnail, then to finish off the idea I pulled in reference I took myself to get the correct look, like the hands and shirt.

Real interesting take on a common portrait scene. I love the concepts behind this one. It's intriguing.
