It is amazing that you did that by hand. I tried ASCII before I just used a program took like 10 sec.

wow, I like this. I was going to take Typography last semester but....well that's another story. Anyway I think this was going to be one of the projects. Most of the ones I've seen are white with black text, I think I like your way better....

This is crazy good on a level that slides up to excellent. The way this looks so real and so defined is astounding. I can honestly see a real human face when I close my eyes halfway and blur my vision. It turns into a very near black and white photo for me which absolutely blows me away.
I really wish I could give better praise for this because of how well it has been made, but all I can say is cripes.
Fantastic work!

When I was young, I always did say I wanted words shaved into my head but this brings in a new meaning.
I believe that Rockstar Games actually needs an ASCII drawing for pictures such as that one and it pays a fortune. They need it for their help documents for the new GTA coming out. (San Andreas) You may like to send in an application there because so far, I think this would blow the rest away.
Great Work and I hope to see a lot more of it.

It does look a lot like a conversion, I'm surprised that it isn't. I'm also pleasantly surprised that you didn't use any non-ASCII characters, like people with this style often tend to use. The antialiasing could be a little better, though. You're saying you just started making ASCII? Wow. Hard to believe. You should continue it.
I do agree that ASCII art and pixel art have a lot in common (ANSI and pixel art are almost the same). When I started pixeling I had already made ASCII art for six years and the pixeling techniques felt very familiar.
