Hi neo2055,
I loveeee this piece. The artwork and the message are nothing short of awesome. There's a free app I'm working on that's designed to promote African culture and unity, and I believe this image would be perfect as a loading page. May I please have your permission to use it? Of course I would give you credit for the image if I do.

Nice man, was your inspiration the hercules cave in morocco?

neo2055 In reply to Thedrawking [2013-04-13 18:37:08 +0000 UTC]

Nope. Initially I wanted to paint a girl in the classroom. The view of her through the window. Then I had a map of africa on the wall in background. I was playing with the design, and came to this picture. But I will check it out. never heard of it.

Such a haunting picture. It really needs to be on the cover of Times or something--more people need to see things like this. It's easy to become comfortable and forget about things like this.

I don't know what to comment on first, so I'll just tell you what I see when I look at it: The sun rising behind the one boy looks like a halo behind his head- is he meant to be an angel? Behind him are birds flying that make me think that's it's the freedom he can't see- he can only see his broken childhood and the broken hope that lies ahead of him (in the pictures). He stands "in" africa with bullets around and through it (representing africa's state?) and surrounded by the shadows of children who have lost their lives in that war. Does the vat of HIV represent what has and will infect generations of children to come? What was the actual intended meaning behind this picture?

Hello, thank you very much for your comment. The intending is to raise awarness of world war and the children who have to suffer, it is not only about africa. Also I think every person who looks at this pick sees different things. So I can not really tell for sure.
