#DrawtoberPart1 #Treats

Sadly I am not doing today's prompt, but I totally had an idea for it that I will save for the future, maybe.

Here we have Flaebelle and Pippo when they were children, collecting maggots from a rotting stump for snacking on later. (I have read from multiple sources that gnomes in DnD eat grubs/maggots/worms and that just absolutely tickles me)

Flaebelle was my first ever Garden Gnome, from by first ever session of 5e DnD. (I had played 3.5e prior, so not my first game ever) The whole idea of the Garden Gnomes came to be because I was asked by the DM to give an explanation for the green skin. "I just like green skin" wasn't good enough, but "She's actually a watermelon" was acceptable. Very little about her race was built upon during that brief campaign. I didn't even have a name for her race, or a place of origin in mind. It wasn't until a few months later where I joined a different DnD group, where I decided that I wanted my next character to be a friend to Flaebelle. Thus, Pippo. With Pippo came a defined idea of what a Garden Gnome is, what Brassica is, and a whole lot of story ideas.

Flaebelle herself is a watermelon girl known for her big heart but little brain. She's a bard with a banjo, once a traveling performer. Nowadays she has settled down with family and a stationary gig running a tavern with her husband. Before all that, she was a shy kid who didn't think she was good at much of anything.

Pippo and Flaebelle became sisters. They were raised in what they would call a "nursery", but what we would call an "orphanage". The seeds they were born from were abandoned and planted in the nursery amongst the garden, as is normally done with stray seeds. Flaebelle was born in July along side the watermelon, and Pippo was born that same year in October with the pumpkins. They became very close very quickly (Watermelon and pumpkin are part of the same family you know) On days where they didn't have to work the garden or help the younger kids, they spent alone together as far from the nursery as they could sneak off to. Neither of them were ever adopted off, so they simply aged out of living at the nursery. (It's hard to adopt off a pair) In adulthood, they remained close up until Flaebelle got married. After that, Pippo became distant. After a few decades of separation, they rekindled their relationship. Thankfully for gnomes, forgiveness comes very easy.

I suppose I'll end on one last dump on the topic of their names. Citrulla Lanatus is Flaebelle's birth name, and Cucurbita Pepo is Pippo's birth name. As I'm sure everyone knows, gnomes love names, and are always eager to have more to call their own. As a child, Flaebelle was the first to call Pippo, Pippo (Mispronouncing "Pepo"). Pippo actually called Flaebelle "Lala" as a kid (The last syllable from "Citrulla", the first of "Lanatus"). Flaebelle chose her current name for the purpose of a stage name. It doesn't mean anything or come from anywhere. She just picked it because she thought it sounded like a fae-like. Pippo still calls her Lala.
