Been doing these Pet Portraits for a few years now and I'm getting pretty proud of them!I don't usually post them to DA so a lot of you guys probably don't even know I do these. I just feel like people on DA wouldn't be able to afford them I guess.
Both dogs are a Rhodesian Ridgeback breed! Wrinkly lugs, haha. I thought it was a neat comparison and it's nice to see your progress every now and then. :]

The different textures of the work is also good!
I like the cartoony effect on the former and the somewhat rough texture on the latter~

I always feel bad whenever someone posts something and has like no improvement after years. I also have no idea how they can draw a lot and not improve at all

And haha, yeah. I've watched many artists over the years who have nice art... but it's obvious they don't push themselves to explore and try new things and to improve..??
I mean I do PLENTY of sloppy quick art that isn't going to help me improve at all, but I do make attempts here and there to make pictures to the best of my ability every so often.

Yeah but at least they improved enough to have nice art in the first place. It's just sad when they stagnate. I'm always worried that'll happen to me ;A; but sometimes I've improved by doing nothing and it's like woah whered that come from? xD
I just remember watching someone older than me throughout school who literally never got better and went to school for art? I admired her dedication but it also made me think that not everyone can do it when I used to believe anyone could if they worked at it enough. It was kinda depressing tbh.
I dunno about that. Sometimes doing quick things helps you improve too by making you draw faster better. Even if it's just scribbly sketches it's still practice.

Hahaha! That used to happen to me where I'd stop drawing for a while and when I came back it was just stupid good for a little bit? Haha. Then I realized it was just my inconsistancy with my art. Now that I draw almost every single day, I don't get weird waves like that. There are still better days than others, but art block is much less common and things are usually somewhat consistent.
But no I still really do believe that anyone can be an artists if they have the drive and the determination! It REALLY just depends on how much you enjoy it. If you don't enjoy drawing you're never going to get better.
And yeah I suppose! Some times I'll spend only a few minutes on something and it actually looks nicer than I thought. It's good to NOT be a perfectionist sometimes and just keep drawing drawing on to the next! Go go go! haha.

Yeah that's pretty much what happens to me xD I've always had a problem with consistency since I want it to be the same style but still get better? It's weird.
Yeah and they really seemed to enjoy it but like spending all the money to go to art school when they drew the same way since they were like 13 just seemed like a waste.. but it's not up to me to decide anything. Maybe they'll do something eventually
Oh yeah definitely. I get so stuck on trying to make everything perfect that I mess other stuff up Dx I need to doodle more like I did when I was bored in school lmao;

Yeah I think it's really a process to start getting your own identifiable style. But it's a fun process!
Yeah who knows. Maybe there was something to it that they got out of it that you don't know about! Art is different from every perspective!
Lol yes exactly. You need to have sloppy, messy, shitty drawings every so often. Weed out the trash to get to the gems!
