I feel a sadness like GepettoWatching the life that he created run away

After Shadow has all but destroyed the world, Shadow himself has nearly perished in the ruins. Mecha finds him at last, but it looks like he's already too late.
I've always wanted to know how to do the grungy, angsty look. I did this in Corel Painter. Most of the coloring was laid in with watercolor, and underneath is a layer of oils. Mixed media!
Version 2: added more blue to the background to make the foreground more distinct. Cleaned up some of the extra lines, and added a nice little frame.

This is amazing. You did the effects very well, and one can see the bleak despair in Mecha's eyes, and the rubble looks very realistic. /this deserves a lot more comments and favorites.

This is amazing, the mood is very well caught. I have the feeling that it somehow might have a connection to The Eye Of Doom in an alternate reality. You can just see the sadness and grief in Mecha's eyes, gazing at Shadow. Very well done, NetRaptor.

I like the sort of sketchy "messy" look to this, and the way you can see the lineart beneath the color. It adds more of the feeling of destruction to the image.
You did a beautiful job detailing. Mecha looks somewhat despaired by his discovery. Excellent job with that cityscape.

On another topic, how is Corel Painter? I never really liked Corel products...I used to have Photo Paint for it, but I was pretty bad at it. Adobe PhotoShop Elements seems so much easier. O_o;;;

Painter is incredibly intricate and hard to use. And here I thought I'd mastered Photoshop! I don't recommend it for a beginner, not at all. I've been doing this for years and I can hardly bend the thing to my will.
